Return & Refund Policy — 9thara

At 9thara, each piece — whether a handwoven saree or a handcrafted jewellery set — is made and inspected with care before it reaches you. We want you to love what you receive. Please read this policy carefully before placing your order, as it explains the limited circumstances in which returns and refunds are accepted.

Returns & Refunds — Eligibility

We do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds except in the following cases:

  • The item has a major manufacturing defect that affects its usability, or
  • You received the wrong item (a product or size different from what you ordered).

In either case, the conditions below must be met for the request to be valid.

Mandatory Unboxing Video

A clear, uninterrupted unboxing video — starting from the sealed, unopened package — is compulsory for every return or refund request. Requests submitted without a complete unboxing video will not be accepted. We recommend filming the unboxing of every order so you are protected.

Time Limits

  • Any complaint regarding a damaged, defective, or wrong item must be raised within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Tracking or shipment-related complaints raised after 30 days from the date of dispatch will not be considered.
  • Requests outside these windows cannot be processed.

How to Raise a Request

To start a return or refund request, contact us within 24 hours of delivery through any of the following, with your order number and the unboxing video ready:

Our team will review the issue and respond with the next steps.

Damaged Package on Delivery

If the outer package arrives visibly damaged or tampered with, please do not accept the delivery. Refuse it at the doorstep and initiate a return request with us immediately. Accepting a clearly damaged package limits our ability to resolve the issue.

Non-Returnable Items

For reasons of hygiene, customisation, and product nature, the following are not eligible for return or refund under any circumstances:

  • Earrings and any jewellery worn close to the skin (hygiene reasons)
  • Customised, made-to-order, or altered pieces
  • Products from clearance, sale, or special-offer collections (unless defective or wrongly shipped)
  • Items returned without the original packaging, tags, or unboxing video

Size & Colour

Size and colour cannot be changed once an order is placed. Please refer to our size guide and product details carefully before ordering. Slight variation in colour may occur due to screen settings, lighting, and the handcrafted nature of our products — this is not considered a defect.

Order Cancellation

Orders, once placed, cannot be cancelled or modified, as they move into processing promptly to ensure quick dispatch.

Refund Method & Timeline

Where a return or refund is approved:

  • The product must be returned in its original, unused condition with all tags and packaging intact.
  • Once we receive and inspect the returned item, your refund will be processed within [7–10] business days.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method, or as store credit / wallet balance for Cash-on-Delivery orders.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable, except where the item was defective or wrongly shipped.

Shipping & Delivery

Delivery Locations

  • Domestic: Delivery is available across India to all locations serviceable by our courier partners.
  • International: Available to all countries serviced by our courier partners, with additional shipping charges.

Dispatch & Delivery Time

  • Orders (both ready-to-ship and customised) are dispatched only after full payment is received.
  • For international orders, dispatch happens only after the applicable courier charges are received.
  • Our team will confirm shipping charges based on the weight of the package and the delivery location before dispatch.

Shipping Charges

Shipping cost depends on order weight and delivery method. Indicative rates (confirm/update to your own):

  • Within Kerala: ₹[70]
  • South region: ₹[100]
  • North region: ₹[130]
  • Remote areas / large or heavy items: additional charges may apply.
  • GST is applicable on all shipping charges.

Care Instructions

Clothing

For best results, dry clean only. If needed, gently hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not soak, wring, or bleach. Lay flat to dry in the shade, and steam or iron on low heat using a protective cloth. As this is a handcrafted piece, please treat it with elegance and care.

Jewellery (One-Gram Gold & Imitation)

Keep your jewellery away from water, perfume, sweat, and harsh chemicals, as these dull the finish. Wear it last while dressing and remove it first. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after use, and store each piece separately in an airtight pouch or box to prevent tarnishing. Avoid wearing during sleep, bathing, or exercise. With proper care, the shine and plating will last much longer.
